NFL Extends Problem Gambling Prevention Group Deal With $6.2m Grant

Amid the growth of sports betting across the US, the NFL has made clear its commitment to preventing problem gambling. The American football league has signed a new deal with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), including an additional $6.4m grant.

The deal, which extends now over the next three years, will follow on from the existing contract signed in October 2021. That time around, the NFL committed $6.2m to the group.

NFL Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility Anna Isaacson said the partnership “underscores the vital impact of their work and our ongoing commitment to advocate for and support responsible gambling initiatives.”

The multimillion-dollar funding from the NFL will go towards modernizing and strengthening the National Problem Gambling Helpline, developing and implementing the Agility Grants program, and awareness efforts. The latter includes the ResponsiblePlay.org website.

In response to the news, the NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte said he was “profoundly grateful.” He stated that the partnership has been “instrumental” in advancing the mission of the group. “We look forward to building on the significant progress we’ve made together,” he concluded.
