Despite sounding uncannily like a male body spray, African Spirit turns out to be a slot with a lot to like about it. It’s a new game from Booongo and it’s one they’ve clearly put a lot of effort into. The graphics and animations are particularly good; check the detail in the wooden carvings and terrifying masks that appear as symbols on the reels. Also check the two bonfires that burn either side of the reels, yellow flames licking away at the night sky.
The sound of Africa is a curious one if the soundtrack to this slot is anything to go on. The music all starts off reasonably before meandering into some ‘interesting’ terrain. You might wanna give the audio a miss. Most other elements of African Spirit pass muster, including the effect of the reels spinning. Each one comes to rest as with a slight lurch as if carried forward under its own momentum. The animations are subtle in this game, but all of them add to the bigger picture and enhance the game.

African Spirit is a 20 payline slot with a line bet that can be set between 0.01 and 5. This means the most you’ll pay per spin is 100. So there you go then: that’s what African Spirit is all about. More specifically, African Spirit is powered by three symbols that each has a special role to play. There’s scatter, which appears as a blue mask of a horned antelope’s skull (or something like that). It triggers free spins with 3 scatters in view and will show up on reels 1, 3 and 5. Then we have wild, a leopard with beaming red eyes and its mouth open ready to bite. It will show up on reels 2-5 and will substitute for all other symbols except scatter and the spear symbol.
Out of Africa
The spear symbol is a bonus symbol that will trigger a respin whenever it appears in its designated placed – reel 5. When this happens, accompanied by a wild symbol, you get your spin.
